My interest in the healing arts began early in life. I’ve always been a “seeker,” and had a strong fascination with the innate healing powers of the human body, plus an affinity for Holistic medicine as a path for achieving optimal wellness. Having my own health concerns as an adolescent and young adult led me to several extraordinary wellness professionals who had a profound impact on my wellbeing, and became spiritual mentors for me at various times during the past 30 years of my healing evolution. I sometimes refer to this group of women as my “Council of Elders,” and I continue to learn from several of these gifted healers. I am deeply grateful to each of them for helping shape the person and practitioner I am today.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Women’s Studies from the University of Colorado, though my education included a diverse array of studies in foreign languages, humanities, religious and contemplative studies, counseling psychology, western medical sciences, emergency medicine, nutrition and natural healing. My “formal training” began with a 4-year graduate degree in Classical Chinese Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. After receiving my Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) in 2006, I was nationally board certified in Acupuncture and Herbalism and I still hold an Acupuncture license (LAc) in both Oregon and Washington.
I continue to work with people through my Taoist medicine lens with an emphasis on Spirit, Mind, Body integration. From my perspective, it is through the spirit/soul that we access our potency for transformational healing. Wellness is a process, not a prescription. It is an honor to serve as a guide on the path to wellness and a joy to help people access their deepest wisdom. My vision is to be of service as people empower themselves to live in alignment with their truth.
A Word on Intuition
There is a critical need to “develop,” aka remember and realign, with our intuition.
Our bodies are fine-tuned instruments that carry the wisdom of the ancients. When you take into account that early human ancestors were present on this planet between 5 and 7 million years ago, and human language developed only recently, in the last 50,000 years, according to some estimates, you may come to understand that our survival and evolution through millions of years was achieved without the assistance of our modern brains. The neo-cortex, which governs higher functions such as sensory perception, generation of motor commands, spatial reasoning, conscious thought, and language, is a relatively new phenomenon. This is all to say that our modern culture has become obsessed with an over emphasis on cognitive function and intellectual development, so much so that we’ve eclipsed and neglected our sophisticated systems of internal antennae that are meant to serve as our instinctual barometers. We have lost feeling in our sensory systems and forgotten our animal nature. In short, we’ve fallen asleep at the wheel of our lives. It is my intention to serve as a teacher to those who are called in their hearts to (re)awaken into their bodies and realign with their inner wisdom.
How I work
My approach is to meet people where they are and help them to access and activate inner resources to enhance their innate healing potential. Everyone is on their own unique path and since there is no “one size fits all” in Holistic wellness, it has always been my mission to connect with people through compassion and intuition to serve their higher purpose. Through guided inquiry and mentorship, I seek to serve those with a heart’s calling to awaken and align with their truth. In these potent times when meeting in a treatment room is not currently an option, I nonetheless create a sacred space in which healing energy can be transmitted and received.
